HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN & BECOMING A DELIVERER Text: 2 Sam 1:25-27 & 1 Chron 10:3 - 13
| I. | 2 Sam 1:25 & 27 "How the mighty have fallen": David was speaking of King Saul & Jonathan who fell in battle |
| | A. | King Saul started out as an anointed King: 1 Sam 10:11 |
| | 1. | King Saul started out as an anointed warrior: 1 Sam 11:6, 7 & 11 |
| | B. | Why King Saul fell in battle: 1 Chron 10:13 "Saul died for his unfaithfulness.." |
| | 1. | Saul did not walk in obedience to the "Word of God" & "Prophetic Word" spoken over his life |
| | a. | Saul got involved with witchcraft before he visited the medium: 1 Sam 15:22 "rebellion...as sin of witchcraft" |
| II. | What does all of this have to do with the Church and Born Again Believer of today? |
| | A. | The "Mighty" are still falling in spiritual warfare & their spiritual weapons have perished as did King Saul's |
| | 1. | 1 Chron 10:13 believers are defeated in spiritual warfare due to their unfaithfulness to the "Word of God" & "Prophetic Word" spoken over their life |
| III. | Look what the enemy was able to do to King Saul in the midst of the battle due to his unfaithfulness: 1 Sam 31:3 |
| | A. | Born Again believers are to wear armor in battle: Eph 6:11 which is to protect us form spiritual arrows: Eph 6:16 |
| | B. | Our Shield of Faith cannot protect us if we are unteachable & rebellious like King Saul: |
| | 1. | 2 Sam 1:21 "The shield of Saul, not anointed with oil." NKJV type of not anointing in spiritual warfare |
| | a. | due to Sauls's unfaithfulness: 1 Sam 16:14 "The Spirit of The Lord departed from Saul" |
| | b. | The same thing happened to Sampson, due to his unfaithfulness: Judges 16:20 |
| IV. | 1 Sam 31:7 - 12 these are prophetic gestures of what the enemy does to defeated believers today |
| | A. | Vs 9 cut off the head of King Saul: declaring that this will never become a "Renewed Mind" Rom 12:2 |
| | 1. | Declaring that this mind will pull down the spiritual strongholds built within it 2 Cor 10:4 - 5 |
| | B. | Vs 9 The stripping off of King Saul's armor and fastening it to the wall of "Ashteroth" |
| | 1. | "Ashtoreth" was a temple of fertility: today we call it pornography. The idols of Ashteroth flooded the land From temples, to the roadside & they were replicas of the male genitalis |
| | a. | The mighty still fall today due to this same form of idolatry: pornography, fornication, and adultery |
| | 2. | Today in the "strongman's house" we find the "mighty" believers who have fallen & their armor hanging on the wall / stronghold of the enemy as a trophy: spiritual armor, calling, gifts, anointing's, lives of believers, and the enemy proclaiming through out the land / spirit realm the victory over God's mighty warriors |
| | C. | Vs 10 The stripping of Saul's armor and hanging it on the wall of Beth Shan has spiritual a meaning: |
| | 1. | Def Beth Shan: place of ease. This is a type and shadow of: |
| | a. | believers who have laid down their calling, let their gifts go dormant, quit their ministry. Abandon the House of God / Local Church.......and begin to seek a place of ease |
| V. | Mistakes King Saul made .... that we must avoid: |
| | A. | Saul ran off from his life....anyone who was anointed: 1 Sam 18:12 |
| | B. | Saul was a people pleaser, instead of a God pleaser: 1 Sam 15:24 & Prv 29:25 |
| | C. | Saul was disobedient to the written & prophetic word: 1 Sam 15:19, 23, 26 |
| | 1. | Saul went from disobedience to deception: 1 Sam 15:20 |
| | D. | Unlike David who would not touch God's anointed (1 Sam 24:6-10 & 26:9-11 & 23) Saul would destroy
God's anointed vessels: 1 Sam 22:16 - 18 |
| | E. | Saul was insecure & jealous toward others who were anointed: 1 Sam 18:8, 12, 15 |
| | 1. | Saul did not understand that God brings anointed people into our lives for two reasons: |
| | a. | to help you in fulfilling your destiny |
| | b. | to train & develop them for their destiny: Saul knew David's destiny was to be the next king, but refused to help & develop David (1 Sam 24:20) |
| | F. | Saul did not respect boundaries in life or ministry: 1 Sam 13:8-14 |
| VI. | God's solution toward the mighty who have fallen: Obad 21 "Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion" NIV |
| | A. | Heb 12:22 "You have cone unto Mount Zion ... general assembly the church of the first born" |
| | 1. | The Born Again Believer are to be God's DELIVERERS |
| | a. | Isa 2:3 is speaking of the same Mount Zion in Heb 12:22 |
| | b. | Isa 2:3 is prophesying to the general assembly / church & the law / word of God is to go forth out of Zion thru the lives and ministry of the Born Christian |
| | (1) | Ma11 12:29 enter the strongman's house & bind him Matt 18:18 |
| | (2) | We are to be the Jabesh of today 1 Chron 10:11-12) & take the lives of lost souls & Life & armor of our brothers and sisters in Christ off of the walls of the enemy who have been taken captive thru sin, offense, unforgivenss, fear and unfaithfulness: Lk 4:18 Like Jesus, we have been anointed to set captives free |
