MINISTRY OF ENCOURAGEMENT | I. | 1 Sam 30:6 "David encouraged himself in The Lord": Def encouraged: to take courage |
| | A. | David experienced the same loss & grief as everyone else: vs 4 & 6 distress & grieved |
| | 1. | But, David made a choice to encourage himself in The Lord |
| | a. | circumstances had not changed, no anointing or presence of God manifested |
| | b. | David encouraged himself in the Lord: results: 1 Sam 30:19 "David recovered all:" |
| | B. | Same will happen for you and I we are open to the sources of encouragement: |
| | 1. | Our God of Comfort / encouragement, The Holy Spirit is the Comforter / Encourager, |
| | The Scriptures, The Five Fold Ministry Gift in your life / Pastor, Brother & Sister in Christ |
| | C. | When we encourage our self in The Lord we put our self in position to receive: direction, Instruction, a promise & faith coming into our heart: |
| | 1. | 1 Sam 30:8 "and without fail recover all" |
| II. | 2 Cor 1:3 - 4 "God of all comforts" Def Comfort is Encouragement |
| | A. | Vs 4 "Who comforts / encourages us in tribulations" Def Tribulations: pressure & trouble |
| III. | The Holy Spirit has been sent by God Our Father to be our Comforter / Encourager |
| | A. | Jn 14:16 - 18 "He (God Our Father) shall give you another comforter / encourager" |
| | 1. | Vs 18 Jesus said he would "not leave you comfortless"/ without an encourager |
| | 2. | Jn 14:26 "But the Comforter / Encourager (Holy Spirit) has come" |
| IV. | The Bible and it’s promises to us are is a source of comfort |
| | A. | Rom 15:4 "comfort / encouragement of the scriptures might have hope" |
| | 1. | God does not want us to see our future as bleak & defeated, nor as the devil says |
| | a. | But through the scriptures we see God’s future for our life & receive encouragement & hope: Jer 29:11 - 14 |
| V. | Your Pastor (Five Fold Ministry Gift) plays a vital role of bringing encouragement into your life in times of need: |
| | A. | 1 Thess 2:11-13 Paul The Apostle exhorted, comforted / encouraged, & charged / placed demand upon the believers as he taught them the Word of God |
| | a. | walking worthy of The Lord |
| | b. | received the Word not as the word of men, but as truth, & the Word of God |
| | c. | The word was working effectually in the life of the believer |
| | B. | Col 4:7&8 Tychicus was sent by Paul to "Comfort / encourage your hearts" |
| | C. | 1 Thess 3:2-3 Timothy was sent by Paul to: "comfort / encourage the saints" |
| | 1. | Results: "no man moved by these afflictions" |
| VI. | Our Brothers and Sisters in Christ are to be a source of encouragement in our life: |
| | A. | 1 Thess 5:11 "Wherefore comfort / encourages yourselves together.." |
| | B. | 1 Thess 4:17 ""Wherefore comfort / encourage one another with these words" |
| | 1. | The believer is to shared the word of God with their brothers and sisters thus, bringing encouragement to each other |
