CHARACTERISTICS OF A SPIRIT FILLED LIFE

II. The Spirit filled life is more than: just making a bunch of noise:
A. 1 Cor 13:1-3
1. Note: Love
2. Fruit of the Holy Spirit: Gal 5:22-23
B. Old Testament the priestly garments were trimmed with bells & pomegranates: Ex 28:31-36 (Note vs 34)
1. Bells & pomegranates represented a balanced walk with God & ministry
A. Bells: Type of Gifts of the Holy Spirit
B. Pomegranates: type of Fruit of Holy Spirit
III. A Spirit filled life has an understanding of the working of the Holy Spirit & produces maturity & stability
A. Gifts of The Spirit are not a sign of maturity:
1. Example: Corinthian Church 1 Cor 3:1 carnal / babes
a. Yet Paul stated: “so that ye come behind in no gift” 1 Cor 1:7
2. The reason why “Gifts” are not a sign of maturity: Rom 11:29 “gifts...are without repentance”
a. Example: 1 Sam 18:19 King Saul was possessed with a tormenting demon, yet he prophesied
b. Example: Samson in the Book of Judges: moved in the anointing & lived in fornication
B. Awareness of the Holy Spirit dwelling in the Born Again Believer produces stability & maturity: 1 Cor 3:16
C. Awareness of being Baptized into the Body of Christ produces stability & maturity: 1 Cor 12:13
D. Awareness of being Sealed with the Holy Spirit produces stability & maturity: Eph 1:13
E. Having Revelation Knowledge of these workings of the Holy Spirit produces stability & maturity
IV. How to maintain a Spirit filled life: Eph 5:18-20
A. Vs 19 our “Words”: “speaking to yourselves”
1. Matt 12:34: “out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks”
2. Eph 5:19 “Speaking....psalms, hymns, spiritual songs”
3. Eph 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth...edifying...minister grace unto the hearer”
B. Vs 19 “singing& making melody in your heart (your spirit man) unto the Lord”
1. When Born Again, God gives you a New Song: Ps 40:3
a. Listen to the melody you sing from your heart / spirit man: is it filled with praise, joy, victory, worship?
C. Vs 20 “Giving Thanks always”
1. A believer who maintains a Spirit filled life has a Thankful Heart
a. It is impossible to enter into the presence of God without a thankful heart: Ps. 100:4
D. Believers who maintains Spirit filled life walks in Biblical Submissionvs 21: “Submitting yourselves”
1. Submission to God: James 4:7
2. Submission to godly leadership within the Church: Heb 13:17
3. Submission to mature saints within the Church: Eph 5:21
4. Submission to the biblical family structure within the home:
a. Children to parents: Eph 1:6
b. Wives are to submit to their won husband: Eph 5:22
c. Husbands are to submit to God & lay down his life for his wife: Eph 5:25
5. The Church (universal - local - & individual believer) is to submit to the Lordship of Jesus: Eph 5:24
E. When we fail to walk in Biblical Submission we give room for two demonic spirits to manifest in our life:
1. Rebellion: 1 Sam 15:23
2. Unteachable spirit: Hosea 4:6
V. Examine our heart:
A. Is there stability & maturity in our walk with God?
B. Is the Power of God, Gifts of the Spirit, Heavenly Prayer Language manifesting in our life?
C. Is our life producing the Fruit of The Holy Spirit?
D. Listen to the Words you speak: when you open your mouth, does the Word of God flow out?
E. Listen to the Song your sing: is it full of joy, victory, & praise?
F. Do you have a Thankful heart?
G. Do you walk in Biblical Submission?
