I. 1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God

A. Eph 2:1-2 while a sinner we lived / walked according to the course of this world

   1. Upon being born again we walk with God / walk in the Holy Spirit Gal 5:16

B. Ministry of the Holy Spirit is to give us revelation knowledge of all God has for us

   1. 1 2:12 “that we might know the things ..freely given to us by God”

   2. ‘Freely given”: refers to what Jesus has provided thru His death, burial & resurrection

II. TWO KEYS for partaking of all Jesus has “freely given”

A. #1 Jn 8:32 “you shall know the truth & the truth shall make you free”

   1. What is truth? The bible Jn 17:17

   2. Must know the “truth”: 2 Tim 2:15 “Study to shew thyself approved unto God”

    a. Def “Approved”: tried (cannot gain God’ approval, nor past life’s tests without revelation knowledge of God’s word

     (1) 2 Tim 3:15 “hast known the scriptures......make thee wise unto salvation”

      (A) Def Salvation (soteria): rescue, safety, deliver, health, save, saving

     (2) Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (speaking of God’s word)

      (A) Jn 10:10 the devil’s ministry is to destroy you

      (B) No need to be destroyed for a lack of revelation knowledge Isa. 11:9-10

B. #2 You must apply the “word” to your life & situations you face. 2 Tim 2:15

   1. You are a workman: we are to “work” God’s word.Results: needed not be ashamed

    a. Isa 61:7 For your shame you shall have double

     (1) How is this possible? 2 Tim 2:15 “rightly dividing the word of truth”

III. 1 Cor 2:12 Def spirit of the world: mental disposition

A. spirit / mental disposition of the world: defeated mentality, victim mentality, attitude that life owes you something without any effort on your part

   1. God, nor man, nor life owes you anything. We must start working The “word” so a harvest can come into our lives: Gal 6:7 whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap

   2. God is looking people who are doing the “word” so he can release His power & blessing

     a. Jer 1:12 “for I am alert and active, watching over My word to perform it’

IV. 3 responsibilities of every believer in order to release God’s power & blessing

A. BUILD YOURSELF: Jude verse 20 “praying in the spirit”

   1. Baptism of the Holy Spirit: Acts 2:1-4 For every believer: Mark 16:17

    For all generation: Acts 2:38-39 Baptism of power: Acts 1:8

    Baptism of Holy Spirit separate from receiving salvation: Acts 19:1-6

B. RECOVER YOURSELF: 2 Tim 2:25-26

   1. When we acknowledge the truth (vs 25) & repent

    a. we can recover ourselves from the snare of the devil. Def recover to become sober again

     (1) we do not have to live drunk on defeat & sin

C. ENCOURAGE YOURSELF: 1 Sam 30:6 “David encouraged himself in The Lord”

   1. Encouraged himself thru: the word, prayer, praise & worship: David was a mature believer

1. Results: 1 Sam 30:18-19 “David recovered all”
